Psychedelic Moses?

Was Moses high when he received the 10 Commandments?
That is the opinion of Benny Shanon, professor of cognitive psychology at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem. Shanon might know because he is no stranger to the psychedelic culture himself. According to the article, Shanon divulged the following information, “‘Moses was probably also on drugs when he saw the burning bush, suggested Shanon, who said he himself has dabbled with such substances.”
Personally, I think one would have to be high to suggest such a thing to begin with. The fact that this guy gets any press with this is unbelievable. I suppose the very fact that this is so off the beaten path justifies it in some peoples eyes as being print worthy. With the recent resurgence of the Da Vinci code, the Gnostic gospels, etc. in a way this is not surprising at all. Anything to dirty and denigrate the monotheistic historical accounts with lame attempts to explain away the miraculous via naturalistic explanations exposes their underlying biases and motives.
